Our History

The Lil Ole Winemaker Shoppe was founded by Mike and Gail Closer in 2001. It was then purchase by Brian and Sue Larson in September of 2009. The business was started in Merrill, WI and has had multiple locations and since July of 2013, it has called 602 Jefferson St, Wausau, WI home.

In October of 2021, Lil’ Ole Winemaker Shoppe was purchased by Paul & Lisa Stuttgen.

About Us

We accidentally found out the Lil’ Ole Winemaker Shoppe was available for purchase in April 2021 and worked closely with the previous owners, Brian and Sue Larson to be able to learn and to carry on the business of winemaking. Then, in October 2021, papers were signed and we became the new owners of the Lil‘ Ole Winemaker Shoppe.

Our goal is to keep the Lil’ Ole Winemaker Shoppe a family-owned business by keeping our five children and close family involved. We are excited to offer the City of Wausau and its visitors a relaxing place to go for great wine and friendly company. We offer over 40 different varieties of wine handcrafted by us. Our shoppe also offers a tasting bar, gift shop, pet friendly outdoor patio and wine & beer making supplies.
